| Posting Summary | Under the occasional direction of and in close consultation with faculty or Electronic Shop/ administrative staff members, Instrument Maker/Repair will perform and oversee fine tolerance work requiring a high level of skills.
- The employee will develop, fabricate, repair, maintain, and test complex laboratory apparatus.
- The employee will also design complex electronic apparatus from general specifications or instructions and consults with faculty and/or students to develop and design appropriate instruments.
- The employee will develop computer programs or logic systems from basic to moderate complexity.

| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Minimum Education and Experience | - Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent, plus advanced vocational courses and courses in mathematics, mechanical design, or engineering.
- Also requires three years experience involving the design, repair, and construction of complex laboratory apparatus, and the operation of Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Computer Assisted Design (CAD), electrical shop, welding, and general machine equipment.
- Successful completion of a mechanical, electronic, or electrical program at a certified post secondary training institute or equivalent relevant training beyond high school/vocational school may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
- Requires the ability to read and interpret complex drawings, charts, and designs; work from ideas; and draw own sketches and designs.
- Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
