| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V in Radiation Cancer Biology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Instructor, Research Scientist, or Laboratory Manager, the primary purpose of the Research Teaching Specialist V position is to perform laboratory research activities related to cancer biology. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- As directed, performs various research and clinical technical operations independently or as assigned, relating to investigatory activities of the laboratory, followed by appropriate documentation and recommendations.
- Participates in the evaluation of existing procedures suggesting revisions where necessary, and proposing new procedures where required.
- Assists with training of post doc fellows, highschool/undergraduate and graduate students; lab technicians; visiting scholars in laboratory techniques as directed.
- Responsible for submitting purchase recommendations to his/her supervisor.
- Ensures that laboratory equipment is maintained in good working orders.
- Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. May assists with the preparations of proposals, formal applications and justification for grant applications, as requested.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles.

| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Minimum Education and Experience | - BS degree in biology, genetics, or other related fields.
- Prior research experience is an asset.
| Certifications/Licenses | | Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | - Ideal candidates should have wet lab experience with basic techniques in molecular biology, with effective communication skills, and be able to work relatively independent.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
| Preferred Qualifications | - College course works in genetics, cancer biology, molecular biology, and some experience with computational biology.
| Equipment Utilized | | Physical Demands and Work Environment | PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lab environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
