| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the department of Neurology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of Dr. Yoon-Seong Kim, M.D., Ph.D, the laboratory technician will work on the projects dedicated to investigate molecular mechanism underlying Parkinson’s disease (PD) pathogenesis. Using both cell-based models and various animal PD models, our lab focuses on how alpha-synuclein dysregulation is related to oxidative stress and mitochondrial changes, eventually leading to PD. Our lab is using a numerous state-of-the-art technologies including 10X Genomics single-cell sequencing, Nanopore direct sequencing, live-cell imaging, and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing. - Maintain colonies of genetically modified mice, including mouse husbandry and genotyping.
- Treat and assess mouse models of neurodegenerative disease using behavioral tests.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and stock solutions.
- Perform molecular biologic experiments that include Western blotting, protein-protein interaction assays, PCR, subcellular organelle isolation, and cell biologic studies.
- Carry out studies with cultured cell lines, primary neurons, including treatment with v and live cell imaging.

| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Minimum Education and Experience | - Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in Neuroscience, Biology, or a relevant science.
- Priority will be given to outstanding applicants with a demonstrated interest in research in the biological sciences.
| Certifications/Licenses | | Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | - S/he should also be able to operate standard laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, culture hoods, incubators, PCR machines, shaking incubators and plate readers.
| Preferred Qualifications | - Prior experience in a laboratory studying molecular and cellular neurobiology is highly desirable.
| Equipment Utilized | | Physical Demands and Work Environment | - Physical Demands: The applicant needs to be physically capable of performing the above duties, including pipetting, measuring weights and volumes accurately, standing on feet, walking to other buildings on the campus and to the animal facility. Occasionally, certain items in the laboratory may need to be lifted, such as small equipment, boxes and bottles. H/She should be able to communicate his/her research plans and findings verbally and in writing in proper English to the team and to the scientific community in presentations and publications.
