Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Financial Analyst in the Office of Information Technology – Finance & Administration at Rutgers Central Administration.
Under supervision of the Business Manager I, this position provides financial and budgeting support to the manager by coordinating analyses, planning, forecasting, and the preparation of financial reports to facilitate decision-making.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides financial support to the manager by coordinating analyses, planning, forecasting, and the preparation of financial reports to facilitate decision-making.
  • Responsible for financial reporting for the OIT departments and prepares concise and timely monthly/quarterly reports for all assigned areas in accordance with departmental objectives.
  • Responsible for analyzing costs in relation to services performed.
  • Reviews actual to budget and forecast to budget variance analysis and provides commentaries.
  • Assists in development of business processes and financial analysis to ensure operational goals, objectives and strategies are met.
  • Streamlines existing process and recommends process improvements.
  • Identifies expense trends and provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Establishes and maintains databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing financial forecasts.
  • Evaluates large amount of complex financial transactions and recommends impact on department operations.
  • Makes recommendations to the Manager regarding cost savings or profit generating opportunities.
  • Responsible for updating and calculating financial forecasting methodologies for various financial data.
  • Participates in meetings with OIT administrators to review department financial data.
  • Collaborates partnerships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with all levels of OIT Unit administrators to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations to improve data gathering process and financial data review process.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.  Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility .  Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine .  Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field plus three (3) years of relevant experience in related fiscal activities.
  • Experience in the development of forecasting and budgeting methodologies and in developing commentaries for budget and forecast variances.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.

  • Demonstrated strong process improvement skills and strong analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and on multiple projects.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt well to changing priorities, process large data, question validity of data, and work independently, while providing problem resolutions without supervision.
  • Organized and detailed oriented with the ability to thrive in a team environment and collaboration to meet deliverables/deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Excel and Word skills along with PowerPoint knowledge.
