Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Physician Specialist I for the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, located in Yardville, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Medical and Health Services Director, the Physician Specialist I is responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections, which are consistent with community standards of care. This position serves as a liaison for clinical matters with medical providers outside of the system and be available to provide on-call services.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Serves as the Medical Director of the site and supervises other Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners at the site.
* Reports to the assigned state prison at designated hour to examine referred patients.
* Provides emergency care, routine medical care, preventive medical care and education to patients.
* Assures implementation and ongoing status of on-site chronic clinics.
* Refers patients to appropriate Physician consults.
* Prescribes medications from the formulary for the inmate’s healthcare needs.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
* Experienced in a primary care specialty.
Certifications/Licenses
* Licensed physician in the State of New Jersey.
* Current DEA and CDS registration.
* Board certified, eligible, or qualified by the state laws/regulations to practice medicine.
* Valid Driver’s License.
