| Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the Newark Outpatient Department within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC). Under direction of the Program Manager, the Mental Health Clinician III provides culturally competent outpatient clinical services that meet the needs of the designated adult population. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides focused skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence supported individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assesses treatment needs and provides evidence supported individual, group, and family treatment that is consistent with the service design and philosophy of the program, as clinically indicated, to assigned clients.
- Effectively refers and/or terminates patients who are not appropriate for services at UBHC.
- Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients, including coordination of treatment and liaison with medical providers and community agencies, as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
- Maintains clinical documentation standards as mandated by UBHC policy and other applicable accreditation and certification entities.
- Regularly attends and participates in training events in empirically validated practices that will enhance clinical skills.

| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience | - Minimum of a Master’s Degree in mental health or a related discipline.
| Certifications/Licenses | - New Jersey license as required by discipline.
- Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | - Demonstrated competency in treating families.
- Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
- Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
| Preferred Qualifications | - Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) .
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
- Competency with electronic clinical documentation.
