You will report to the HR Manager in the Student Life Human Resources (SLHR) department. Our department provides the full employment life cycle of services to the 1200+ employees and approximately 3000 temporary employees within the Division, including both professional and bargained-for staff and temporary employees, both student and non-student. Responsibilities* As an HR Specialist Employee Relations Investigator you will conduct Internal investigations into alleged violations of law, regulation, standard practice and procedure, and other misconduct including allegations of discrimination and harassment across Student Life organizations. You will partner with departments, HR Business Partner (HRBP), University of HR (UHR), Labor Relations, the Equity, Civil Rights, Title IX Office (ECRT), and the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to ensure prompt investigation of all employee relations complaints are addressed including: - Work with HRBP in managing incoming complaints from staff, departments, compliance hotline, ECRT, and other sources. Create investigative plans to gather information to assess the validity of the allegations.
- Investigate the case, and determine possible actions steps to address employee concerns including meeting with the staff, units leaders, HRBP, UHR, ECRT, and other groups.
- Prepare written reports and summaries of findings detailing the factual outcome of the investigation and make recommendations. Maintain files including logs, summaries, investigative notes, and correspondences.
- Improve processes and best practices, and conduct training when needed to support compliance and investigation methodology.
- Represent Student Life HR in meetings and provide regular updates that may affect the team. May participate in committees, special projects, and other responsibilities.
Required Qualifications* - Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three (3) or more years of previous HR employee relations-related experience with broad knowledge of HR areas, including conducting investigations, interpretation, and interpretation of policies; guide management to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
- Experience interpreting and implementing HR procedures.
- Experience using HR management systems, and data query tools.
- Experience in Microsoft suite includes maintaining complex spreadsheets, Google suite (ie, mail, drive, chat)
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications* - Professional Human Resource Certification (e.g., HRCI, SHRM certification).
- Proficient in HR PeopleSoft, Google mail and drive, Qualtrics, presentation software, and business objects for ad-hoc queries.
- Experience in a higher education environment or experience working with bargained-for employees.
- Experience in facilitation and training including the ability to present to all levels.
- Experience managing collaborative projects between the unit(s).
