Recruitment/Posting Title | Post Doctoral Fellow | Department | SAS - Linguistics | Salary | Commensurate With Experience | Posting Summary | The Laboratory for Developmental Language Studies at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey – New Brunswick under the direction of Dr. Kristen Syrett invites applicants for an NSF-funded postdoctoral position to be an active part of a research team and take a leadership role in ongoing projects in the lab. The lab has a dual focus on semantics and pragmatics in child language acquisition and development, and experimental semantics, pragmatics, and syntax in adult psycholinguistic research. The lab is physically housed in the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science (RuCCS), while research activities span Linguistics, RuCCS, and the greater Central New Jersey area. The postdoctoral fellow will be an important part of a rich interdisciplinary language-focused research program, with ties to Cognitive Science, Philosophy, Psychology, and the world languages, and will have opportunities for professional development and mentoring. The successful candidate will be engaged in ongoing research; collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data; leading and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; writing papers; disseminating research; and community outreach for language science.
| COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience | Candidates must have a doctorate in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, or Cognitive Psychology. Interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work on a team, and mentoring abilities are highly valued.
| Certifications/Licenses | | Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Research experience in language, statistical analysis, data visualization, experience running studies in person and online, organization, time management capabilities, and a love of language(s) are a must. Experience with Praat, ELAN, Qualtrics, Prolific, and/or programming (e.g., Python), and knowledge of Open Science practices are highly desirable.
