Position Description

The Kaeser laboratory seeks to understand mechanisms of the release and signaling of neurotransmitters and neuromodulators. We use a variety of approaches including genetic, molecular, electrophysiological, imaging, and behavioral techniques. We are looking for a laboratory technician to assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to basic molecular and cell biology techniques (plasmid DNA preparation, PCR, cloning, tissue culture, tissue collection from mutant animals, etc.), preparing solutions and stocks, ordering supplies, and working with post-docs and/or students for maintaining our mutant mouse strains. The person we are looking for should be well organized and motivated, have strong communication skills, and work well with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.


Basic Qualifications

College background or equivalent work experience. At least one year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).


Additional Qualifications and Skills

Previous experience in mouse husbandry and/or cellular and molecular biology preferred. Excellent organizational skills are mandatory. Intent for a longer term commitment preferred.

This is a 12-month term appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.
