Position Description |
The John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and the Kempner Institute for the Study of Natural and Artificial Intelligence at Harvard University seek applicants for a tenure-track position in the area of machine learning and AI with connections to relevant fields of computational neuroscience, such as reward-reinforcement learning. The expected start date is July 1, 2022.
Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in one or more aspects of machine learning, artificial intelligence, or computational neuroscience and have demonstrated expertise in developing new machine learning approaches at the interface of these fields. Candidates should have enthusiasm for teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in machine learning, and be able to thrive in an interdisciplinary setting. This position is for an academic appointment in SEAS with membership in the new Kempner Institute. Basic Qualifications |
Candidates are required to have a doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field by the expected start date.

Additional Qualifications |
Successful candidates may also have relevant post-graduate experience.

Special Instructions |
Required application documents include a cover letter, a CV, a statement of research interests, a teaching statement, and up to three representative papers. The cover letter should identify the candidate’s areas of core interest within one of SEAS’ academic areas. In addition, we ask for a statement describing efforts to encourage diversity, inclusion, and belonging, including past, current, and anticipated future contributions in these areas. Candidates for a tenure-track position are also required to submit names and contact information of 3-5 referees, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor. We encourage candidates to apply by May 1, 2022 but will continue to review applications until the position is filled.
