Description

This is a part-time, adjunct position with primary responsibility to provide instruction and content for students enrolled in the Medical Laboratory Technician program beginning fall, 2022.

Qualifications

This individual must possess current didactic/clinical expertise in the area they are assigned and display knowledge of current learning principles, as well as meet the following requirements:

  1. Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist preferred. Certified MLT will be considered if MLS not available.
  2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting
  3. Documentation of recent and ongoing professional development
  4. Participation in professional lab organizations desired
  5. Prior teaching experience – in either clinical or didactic setting preferred with emphasis on prior virtual learning experience

Job Responsibilities

  1. Adjunct Faculty within the MLT Program will have the following duties and responsibilities:
  2. Teach classes assigned by the administration in a recorded, virtual format for students within the MLT Program;
  3. Provide effective instruction that encompasses active and meaningful learning activities and frequent and timely feedback to students regarding their progress;
  4. Develop course materials/handouts, lectures and labs, and update regularly to ensure relevancy, currency, and alignment with appropriate MLT Course syllabus;
  5. Provide students with a course syllabus which aligns with the common course syllabus and provide information detailing learning expectations, major assignments, and methods of evaluation, and provide a copy of this syllabus to the appropriate dean’s office by the second week of each semester;
  6. Utilize course-adopted textbook(s) and/or course resources;
  7. Keep adequate course records including grades and attendance and submit required records to the designated office by the established date;
  8. Maintain a minimum two office hours per week and provide a copy of office hours to the MLT Program Executive Director and Department of Health Science office;
  9. Follow college-wide student attendance policy and drop non-attending students in a timely manner;
  10. Refer at-risk students to available support resources and interventions;
  11. Participate in the development/revision and implementation of program assessment plan as appropriate or as directed and utilize feedback to improve learning outcomes;
  12. Attend faculty meetings if requested by the MLT Program Executive Director or Dean of Health Sciences;
  13. Check college email regularly and maintain effective communication/contact with students, administrators, programmatic staff, faculty colleagues, etc;
  14. Participate in professional growth activities and service opportunities as appropriate/ approved;
  15. Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to achieve shared goals and strategic plan priorities;
  16. Submit updated/current college transcripts to the Human Resources Office, showing all college work earned at both the graduate and undergraduate level, along with all degrees granted;
  17. Carry out the policies developed by the Board of Trustees as executed and interpreted by the administration; and
  18. Perform other duties assigned by the MLT Program Executive Director, Dean of Health Sciences, the Vice President for Instruction, or the President
