Position Summary
This Senior Scientist plays a critical role in the success of Dr. John DiPersio’s large translational research laboratory. This position must adapt to, participate in, and fully embrace an ever-evolving vibrant and rewarding research program designed to advance cutting edge new therapies for patients.
This position specializes in project management for a broad range of activities supporting a team of scientists that design, develop, and analyze cell and gene therapies for blood cancer patients. This position assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experimental design, data analysis and documentation of experimental results.


Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
  • Assist with grant preparation and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit papers on research.
  • Perform complex statistical analysis of data collected and write interpretative reports.
  • Verify the correctness of the data submitted and make recommendations based on these analyses.
  • Document research topics and prepare and submit papers based on research work to publications and committees for publication or presentation to peers.
  • Solve practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment or test subjects. 
  • Suggest technical or procedural improvements in testing methods.
  • Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Manage research project with other institutions and investigators.
  • Conduct literature searches related to research project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment. Must be able to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and to communicate data in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Computer literacy including the ability to use a variety of software packages to analyze data.


Required Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D. or an equivalent terminal degree and at least three years of postdoctoral experience.

Salary Range
$59,200.00 - $107,400.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
