Classification Summary
This class is the fourth level in the Financial Aid series. Incumbent is involved in all areas of federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Responsibilities may include analyzing and extracting data from database for projects and research; writing system rules to setup and maintain Financial Aid Module of Banner; preparing and filing federal, state, and institutional reports; coordinating all Banner Financial Aid system upgrades with IT Department; designing and developing stand-alone reporting databases; researching and troubleshooting process and data issues; and serving as leader for the department in the absence of the Financial Aid director.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, and four years of work experience.

Essential Job Function
These are the job duties that are required of the position.
Classification Duties
  1. Write queries for multiple software systems to extract data from the College’s database system to be used for decision-making, standardized reports, data-sets, special projects, institutional research, or financial aid awarding. (C4)
  2. Setup and maintain online financial aid modules by writing system rules, creating/maintaining validation tables, setting up system forms, establishing accurate processing schedules/dates, creating efficient work flows. (C4)
  3. Prepare and file federal, state, and institutional reports according to standardized requirements within the appropriate government-mandated reporting deadlines. (B2)
  4. Coordinate all related financial aid system software upgrades with the IT Department by notifying IT that a necessary upgrade is available, reviewing all user/technical release guides and documentation, performing testing, establishing potential installation dates, setting up new functionality, and researching any resulting defects. (C4)
  5. Design and develop stand-alone reporting databases for end-users using various software systems. (C4)
  6. Design financial aid software system security groups and roles; designate to the IT Department the placement of campus staff into the security groups/roles. (C4)
  7. Research and troubleshoot processing issues, irregularities, incorrect data, and inconsistencies found within financial aid database systems. (C4)
  8. Manage College data transmission software systems by installing stand-alone system software and upgrades, performing system setup and maintenance, troubleshooting defects, archiving data. (B2)
  9. Monitor daily financial aid and higher education list serves to identify potential system defects, system outages, processing issues, regulation updates, software release schedules, or deadline dates. (B2)
  10. Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
