About Northwestern Oklahoma State University
Established in 1897, Northwestern Oklahoma State University is a public regional university located in Alva, Oklahoma, that has received national acclaim for its combination of high-quality academic programs and affordability. Spread across 360 acres, the 29-building main campus in Alva is home to approximately 1,400 students of diverse races, ethnicities and ages. While Northwestern primarily serves the vast geographical area of northwest Oklahoma and the Panhandle, its students come from more than 40 states and 20 countries. The University operates satellite campuses in northwest Oklahoma’s two largest cities - Enid and Woodward. The Enid campus has about 200 students, while the Woodward campus has about 130.
NWOSU offers 35 undergraduate degree options, four master’s degree programs and one doctorate program in Nursing Practice (BSN to DNP) across three schools: Arts & Sciences, Education and Professional Studies. NWOSU has more than 200 dedicated full-time faculty and staff, and a student-teacher ratio of 15:1.
In 2016, NWOSU developed a Strategic Plan, Defining Our Future, which builds upon past successes and positions the University to better serve its students, communities and the citizens of Oklahoma by addressing four principal areas: the nature, quality, and relevance of the academic programs offered; an enhanced student experience; a sustainable campus environment supportive of all members; and mutually beneficial future partnerships.
The communities are fully engaged with the University, creating a strong sense of spirit and pride, and Alva dedicates sales tax money to fund scholarships. Private and substantial support for the Northwestern Foundation and Alumni Association gives University programs an extra edge for excellence, allowing for continual investments in facilities, scholarships and fellowships, faculty salary supplements and awards, teaching equipment and library acquisitions.

NWOSU boasts a vibrant and varied student life. There are a variety of clubs and organizations, including athletics, band, choir, theater, a student-led TV station and newspaper and honor societies on campus for students to choose from, enriching the overall college experience. The $3.2 million J.R. Holder Wellness Center in Alva offers plentiful recreation opportunities, with an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, walking/running track, aerobics area, racquetball courts and strength-training facility.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s athletic teams, known as the Rangers, compete at the NCAA DII level in the Great American Conference. Its 14 varsity sports (six men’s and eight women’s) have earned a variety of accolades throughout the years and have produced multiple NFL and MLB players. As well NWOSU boasts a nationally recognized rodeo program that has approximately 110 male and female student-athletes participating.

About the Position
The Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents invites applications and nominations immediately for the position of President of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, which will begin no later than July 1, 2022.
As the institution’s chief executive officer, the president provides strategic leadership, leading the overall operations and administration of the university, reporting to the Regional University System of Oklahoma Regents (“Board”), and performing all duties required by law, policies, rules, regulations, and directives from the Board. The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) serves as the coordinating Board of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education.
- Articulate NWOSU’s vision, mission, and values with internal and external stakeholders
- Build upon the existing traditions, distinctiveness, and strengths of NWOSU
- Support and enhance NWOSU’s overall operations and academic quality by maintaining regional accreditation and maintaining or increasing academic program accreditations or approvals
- Ensure NWOSU maintains the highest level of compliance with all accrediting bodies for academic programs
- Execute thorough, astute financial management and approval of the annual institutional budget
- Ensure NWOSU’s compliance with legal and business ethics
- Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes through shared governance
- Endorse a success-oriented, accountable environment within NWOSU
- Drive NWOSU to achieve and surpass its goals and objectives
- Enforce adherence to legal and regulatory guidelines and in-house policies
- Ensure positive, productive relationships with RUSO, OSRHE, elected officials, alumni, donors, and the community to promote the value and advance NWOSU’s mission

About the Regional University System of Oklahoma
