Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit Institution is dedicated to student learning, research, health care and service seeks applicants for a post-doctoral fellowship position in the Department of Ophthalmology in the School of Medicine.
Projects include studying the genetic, metabolic and epigenetic mechanisms leading to alterations in iron homeostasis, inflammation and anti-oxidative pathways during diabetic retinopathy, and the characterization of novel preventive/therapeutic targets for neuronal cell loss and vascular changes in diabetic retinopathy.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field. Experience in murine models, confocal imaging, cell culture, protein biochemistry of cell signaling and basic molecular biology techniques like Real time PCR, western blot, ELISA, cell based assays and flow cytometry is highly desirable. Experience in vision research will be preferred. Candidate should work independently and have effective oral and written research communication skills.
