Position Summary
A NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  The candidate will work closely with Dr. Patel and will assist in generating the CHF rats, CHF mice, mouse colony maintenance and genotyping in the mice. They will generate the CHF models and assist with the echocardiograms and will be responsible for preparing the surgical procedures and will provide pre- and post-operative care of the animals. Candidates will also assist in performing Western blotting, ELISA analyses, PCR analyses and other molecular techniques described in the proposal. Other responsibilities will include preparing solutions and drugs, ordering supplies, assisting during animal experiments and post-procedure animal care. They will also contribute to analyzing and interpreting the data and will contribute to the presentation of these data in peer-reviewed publications.
Required Qualifications
PhD (or equivalent degree) in cardiovascular or renal physiology, molecular biology, and various aspects of electrophysiology and hemodynamics.  Should also be proficient in whole animal surgical techniques (rodents).
