Postdoctoral Research Associate - Ames Laboratory
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Critical Material Institute within the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research on continuous, scaled flow synthesis of small organic molecules related to critical material separation.
The project is highly collaborative, including partnership with other national labs and industrial collaborators. The successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences.
(The Department of Energy has directed Ames Lab to determine the vaccination status of its employees. Upon hire, employees must complete an attestation regarding their vaccination status. Anyone who does not attest to being fully vaccinated will need to follow the protocol for those who are not fully vaccinated and comply with a weekly COVID-19 screening testing requirement. )
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in chemistry or chemical engineering must be completed prior to start date.
Demonstrated extensive experience in expertise in organic synthesis of small molecules.
Demonstrated experience in spectroscopic and chromatographic analysis of liquid solutions (e.g. infrared, Raman, NMR, GC, LC, etc.).
Familiar with reaction engineering and reactor devices under batch and continuous flow conditions.
Possible experience with Design-of-Experiment (DoE) and/or high-throughput experimentation.Department Unit/Website:
