Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full Time Technician I for the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, located in Yardville, New Jersey. The Technician I participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the Prison. • Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in electronic medical records (EMR). • Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures,including preparing the inmate for the examination. • Obtains specimen collection and handling, including, but not limited to, drawing blood. • Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. • Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms. • Aggregates the orders of all medications and forwards to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy..

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement |
Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Minimum Education and Experience |
• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program (or related skills technician program) or EMT certification or CNA certification or formal training and/or on the job experience in phlebotomy. • At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill and abilities and demonstrating competencies to perform the essential duties of the position

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
