Job Summary
The University of Utah Medical Group Analytics team is search for a junior scholar for a 1-year post doc position. Postdoctoral fellows must have completed their PhD degree to begin the fellowship. The fellow will be expected to conduct original and ongoing research in coordination with the team and prepare manuscripts for publication.
This position is ideal for a junior scholar interested in a wide-range of population health metrics and analytics. The fellow will design and implement research projects in coordination with the Analytics team. The team mines and interprets EPIC data from a population health perspective; they have worked on institution-wide heath queries from opioid use to depression self-evaluations to claims data. The wide array of topics available for study is of benefit of the fellow, especially in manuscript writing.
The University of Utah Medical Group has dedicated 30% of the Fellows time for manuscript writing. First author opportunities will be abundant.
Responsibilities
  • Leads and assists with manuscript writing on new and existing studies.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Qualitative Research on the Data analytics team to initiate, continue, and disseminate results from future and ongoing research projects.
  • Uses analytical capabilities to synthesize unstructured, disjointed information into meaningful, compelling narratives that facilitate development and refinement of health system strategy.
  • Can serve as data resource or coach to perform data profiling and characterization techniques and can quantify data quality to describe confidence in analytic results.
  • Collaborates with data architects to develop scalable solutions for making survey data accessible to the rest of the organization.
  • Performs qualitative and quantitative data synthesis.
