Research ScientistUPCI Research Lab-Shlomchik, Warren - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (22000412) The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Scientist to work in the laboratory of Dr. Warren Shlomchik at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. The candidate will study the mechanisms whereby interferon-gamma sensitizes leukemia cells to killing by alloreactive T cells. The project employs CRISPR-editing of novel mouse leukemia lines derived from compound oncogene knockin mice, single cell RNA sequencing, ATAC-seq, in vivo studies with novel T cell receptor transgenic mice, and CRISPR-Cas9-screens to identify genes that both render leukemia cells resistant to T cell killing. Specific skills and knowledge that are essential for the position:1) Knowledge of immunology, particularly cellular immunology is highly valued2) Knowledge of malignant hematology is highly valued3) Experience with mouse handling4) Experience with CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing5) Expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry6) Expertise in common molecular biology techniques including modern cloning, PCR, RT-PCR.
PhD in a biological science with 5 years of postdoctoral training preferred.
