Research Scientist, Part-Time - (22000137)

Description

 

The part-time Research Scientist trains other lab staff and performs and assists in various canine surgeries. Provides technical leadership and consultation to co-workers and staff. Applies diversified knowledge of scientific research principles, practices, and protocols in research project.

Responsibilities include: Performing bladder, urethral and anal sphincter reinnervation surgeries in canines; performing and/or assisting in monitoring vital signs and depth of anesthesia and adjust anesthesia level as required; urodynamic apparatus set-up and data collection; training other lab members in preparing all surgical, urodynamic, and electrophysical equipment and in the monitoring and annotation of anesthesia level, vital signs, and data collection using AD Instruments, LabChart, and Microsoft Excel software. Trains lab staff on canine surgical procedures.  Collaborates with other staff and investigators on analysis and application of research results. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. and at least four years of postdoctoral experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Familiarity with electrophysiologic and urodynamic apparatus set up and data collection
*Ability to train laboratory staff on all detailed experimental/surgical protocols and procedures
*Ability to perform and/or assist in surgical procedures, and the ability to train others in these procedures.
*Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
*Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team  

This is a grant funded position.
