Under the guidance and supervision of the Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Academic Success (GSPAS) Manager of Retention Initiatives/Student Affairs Officer (SAO) III and GSPAS Assistant Dean, the GSPAS Retention Initiatives Officer will assist in the implementation of efforts, activities, and initiatives related to retention of graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds. Examples of these efforts include Grad STRIVE 2.0, the UCLA chapter of the Bouchet Honor Society, the NSF Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP), and other diversity-related programming and offerings. The GSPAS Retention Initiatives Officer also provides administrative support and student services to support graduate equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI) and engages with professional staff in approximately 100+ departments, schools, and interdepartmental degree programs, with a total of approximately 223 separate master's and doctoral degree programs. Major duties include providing information and assistance to students, departmental staff, and faculty. The GSPAS Retention Initiatives Officer will support departments in their EDI programming and retention efforts for underrepresented students.
