EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Executive Director (ED) is hired by The Samaritan Counseling Center Board of Directors (BOD) and reports to the board. The ED is responsible for the overall leadership and operations of the Center. This includes counseling services, administrative services, marketing, and public relations.

The Executive Director also personally provides counseling and therapy at the Samaritan Counseling Center for a pre-determined number of sessions per week.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

REQUIRED

● Current behavioral health license in the state of Michigan

● Effective organizational, management and leadership skills

● Effective communication skills

PREFERRED

● Knowledge and experience in the management of a nonprofit organization

● 3-5 years of recent clinical experience

● Experience with fundraising

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

● Provide a minimum of 10 clinical sessions weekly, compensated at a 70% fee split

● Receive an annual salary of $40,000 for the Executive Director responsibilities

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP

● Articulate the vision and mission of the organization to the staff, BOD and community

● Identify strategies for Center development with input from the staff and BOD

● Guide the Center's planning and policy processes with input from the staff and BOD

● Meet annually at a retreat with the staff to interpret/review the Center’s goals and objectives

● Participate in all meetings of the BOD and advisory committees

● Communicate all Center issues and concerns to the BOD

● Immediately communicate all potential legal matters to the president of the BOD

● Support growth and development of the BOD

ADMINISTRATION

● Provide the overall administration for the Center

● Be in person at the Center on Thursdays and one additional flexible day

● Be responsive in a timely manner as needed when not in person at the Center

● Lead and participate in the monthly business meeting with all staff

● Lead and participate in the monthly meeting with the administrative staff including the Clinical Director, Office Manager and the Insurance Biller

● Assist in the resolution of all clinical, insurance, staff or business issues of the Center

● Hire, supervise, evaluate and discharge administrative staff

● Assist the Clinical Director as needed or requested

● Enforce the legal requirements for chart maintenance for all clinical staff upon request of the Clinical Director

● Discipline and discharge clinical staff as recommended by the Clinical Director

● Communicate on a regular basis with SCC satellite host locations

● Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity, internal communication and Electronic Health Records

BUDGET AND FINANCE

● Manage the Center’s finances in a responsible manner in accordance with BOD policies

● Report on the financial status of the Center in the monthly staff business meetings

● Direct the development and the management of the annual budget to be completed by December 31 for the following year’s budget

● Determine office staff compensation

● Consult on the compensation/benefits determination of the clinical staff as recommended by the Clinical Director

● Participate in financial and contractual tasks including the approval and signing of checks

● Collaborate with BOD to develop responsible financial policies for the Center

● Keep the BOD informed about the Center's financial status

CLINICAL

● Provide counseling services on a fee split basis

● Adhere to the legal and SCC requirements for chart maintenance for his/her clients

● Participate monthly in an individual clinical supervision session if warranted by licensure

● Participate in weekly clinical staff presentations/meetings

MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS

● Coordinate and support several marketing events

● Maintain strong and positive public relations with the community

● Represent the Center to the larger community on a regular basis

● Build and maintain relationships with area faith-based organizations and other community organizations and improve their Board and Funding support to the Center

● Expand and support the Center’s ongoing fundraising activities – i.e., golf outing, Mustard Seed, and other events

● Collaborate with the BOD to develop new fundraising activities

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
