Separations Chemistry Postdoc

The Actinide Chemistry Team in the Chemistry Division is seeking outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral position that will focus on Light/Heavy Lanthanide Separations, REE/Actinide Separations, as well as Actinide Separation. Successful candidates will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that applies synthetic chemistry, characterization, and electronic structure theory to study and manipulate the unusual chemistry performed by actinide compounds. In this project, synthetic chemistry will be coupled with a combination of theory, electrochemistry, electronic absorption and emission spectroscopies, NMR, IR and Raman vibrational spectroscopies.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience and strong publication record in chemical synthesis in metal separations chemistry.
  • Demonstrated experimental background and strong publication record in organometallic/inorganic (main group, transition metal or f-element) chemical synthesis.
  • Proven in-depth experience in the handling of air-sensitive compounds, knowledge of multinuclear & 2-D NMR spectroscopy, chromatography, and a willingness to work with low-level radioactive natural thorium and depleted uranium materials are also required.
  • Proven strong communication and language skills, as evidenced by publications and the cover letter are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a complex work environment.
