The core purpose of the Office for Research (Research) is to advance Rutgers preeminence in research and spur economic growth. This office provides services universitywide to support the faculty’s research and strategically leads the university’s economic development activities. Our functions range from supporting the identification of new research funding opportunities and submission of grants proposals to post-award financial management and research regulatory affairs. The office directs research commercialization, including patenting and licensing, and serves as a central point for industry access.

Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Sponsored Programs Auditor. As part of the Office for Research, this position within Research Financial Services (RFS), will report to the RFS Compliance Manager and is responsible for the compliance function as it relates to grants and contracts. Duties include, planning, executing and concluding postaward audits, review of cost transfers, effort reporting, sub-recipient monitoring, executing an internal compliance program and assisting with Federal and State Single Audits. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Monitor and complete all tasks within the compliance function.
- Perform financial, operational and compliance audits of sponsored programs in accordance with the Federal regulations.
- Develop, execute and complete annual audit work plans for grants and contracts.
- Supports the effort certification & reporting process throughout the entire effort lifecycle. Conducts after-the-fact compliance audits of certified effort statements.
- Assists with effort help desk activities during peak periods.
- Monitor website to ensure information is complete and up to date.

Minimum Education and Experience |
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting preferred) or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- A minimum of five years’ Post-Award experience in a research environment with an institute of higher education or non-profit, preferably in Grants and Contracts

- Strong verbal, writing, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand applicable University policy and Federal regulations in order to apply the information to grant and contract compliance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, deadlines and special assignments in a professional and timely manner.
- Capable of working independently or with a diverse group of business professionals as well as sponsors, faculty and other staff members.
- Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience in sponsored program administration in a university setting, with working knowledge of OMB Circular 2 CFR Part 200. Green Book, GASB.
- Must be proficient in using PCs, Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new software/systems as business requirements change. Experience with Oracle, Tableau and other University systems. CPA, MBA or CIA certification preferred but not required.
- Thorough knowledge of the Uniform Guidance is highly desirable.
