Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School.Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Postdoctoral Fellow will assist in reaching our long-term goal in identifying potential novel drug targets for preventing malaria infection; with focus on kinase signaling pathways in the malaria-causing parasite, Plasmodium, particularly those that function during infection of the mammalian liver. The Postdoctoral Fellow will perform scientific research (protein purification, biochemistry, enzymatic assays, tissue culture, cell biology, light and fluorescence microscopy molecular biology, rodent handling, mosquito dissection) under the PI’s guidance. Previous experience in Plasmodium pre-erythrocytic stages and vector biology is desirable. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Perform scientific research (protein purification, biochemistry, enzymatic assays, tissue culture, cell biology, light and fluorescence microscopy, molecular biology, rodent handling, mosquito dissection) under the PI’s guidance.
- Communicates regularly with the P.I.
- Maintains detailed and accurate experimental records.
- Participates and presents in journal clubs, seminars and conferences.
- Reads current scientific and technical literature relevant to the laboratory’s mission.
