Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. 
A highly self-motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with postdoctoral research experience is sought to study effects of epilepsy-susceptibility mutations in the mouse brain.  Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the candidate will be responsible for the conduct of highly specialized and technical research, including the supervision and training of students, fellows and other staff within the laboratory.  The Postdoctoral Fellow will initiate and supervise experiments relative to the research project(s).  
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Works with mouse models relative to growth/maintenance. 
  • Employs techniques included, but not limited to, electrophysiology, cell culture, Western Blot and Molecular Biology. 
  • Makes oral presentations to the department and at national meetings. 
  • Prepares written and graphic materials for publication, reports and grant proposals. 
  • Collects, records and analyzes data. 
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. 
  • Keeps abreast of all federal, state and Rutgers University regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. degree.  
  • The candidate must possess at least one (1) year of experience with electrophysiological recordings in brain slices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Candidate must be able to work independently.  
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, mouse maintenance, molecular manipulation and Western Blot.
Equipment Utilized
  • Equipment specific to a Neuroscience and Cell Biology laboratory.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing.  No special vision requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENTLab environment.  Moderate noise.
