Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. 
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct research investigation into the role of autophagy in regulating Kras-driven cancer metabolism and immune response under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Conducts research experiments to understand into the role of autophagy in regulating Kras-driven cancer metabolism and immune response under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. 
  • Prepares written reports of the research experiments. 
  • Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted. 
  • Prepares data for presentations and publications. Presents research results at laboratory and scientific meetings at the local and national level.
  • Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory technicians, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions. 
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant science finishing their training (following their residency and/or fellowship) who wish to prepare for careers in academic medicine.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Background in cancer biology research.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.  No special vision requirements.  Lifting up to 25lbs.  

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory environment.  Moderate noise.  Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.  Universal precautions are mandatory.  Exposure to hazardous chemicals
