Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Epidemiologist for the Department of Emergency Medicine (NJ Poison Information and Education System) within the New Jersey Medical School. Develop and pursue epidemiologic and methodologic expertise for the Department of Emergency Medicine (and New Jersey Poison Information and Education system), including study conceptualization and design, grant application and deliverables, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of results and outcomes. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Develop a practical strategic focus for pursing research in collaboration with internal and institution-wide partners. Examples include the School of Public Health, Program on Global Health, Population Health efforts at UH and Rutgers, and poisoning management with NJPIES.
- Collaborate with and support departmental faculty on statistical analyses for ED-based and Poison Center-based research protocols.
- Apply for independent funding sufficient to sustain the ability to pursue longitudinal research efforts.
- Develop and implement epidemiological or clinical research protocols.
- Assist in the identification of potential investigators and partner sites, both institutionally, nationally, and internationally.
- Collaborate with ED leadership to oversee research technical and/or administrative staff, to include hiring, training, goal-setting, and distribution of workload.
- Assist with the development and implementation of study-specific monitoring and reporting procedures, methods, guidelines, and tools; participates in the establishment of baseline parameters and edit check specifications, and in the development of subject tracking systems.
- Ensure that all aspects of studies are being carried out in accordance with state and federal regulations, guidelines, and policies.
- Work with the IRB and departmental research infrastructure to assure ethical and timely pursuit of research.
- Maintain updated knowledge of epidemiologic and surveillance applications and processes relevant to emergency medicine, global health, population health, and/or poison prevention and management.
