Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Pharmacy Tech – Per Diem in the Clinical Research Center at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the supervision of a Registered Research Pharmacist, performs the technical tasks involved with the proper storage, packaging, labeling, and distribution of investigational drug products as well as the associated inventory/accountability record keeping. Also, assists the Research Pharmacist with the preparation of parenteral admixture investigational drug products.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists with the preparation of parenteral dose (IV, IM, SC, or intradermal) investigational drug orders for consented research study subjects.
  • Assists with the filling of unit dose (oral or topical) investigational drug orders for consented research study subjects.
  • Assists in the maintenance of accurate and current investigational drug accountability/inventory records.
  • Assists with the reconciliation and/or destruction of investigational drug product at the study close-out visit.
  • Assists with the proper storage of investigational drug product (ambient, refrigerated, frozen at -20 or -70) and the maintenance of temperature monitoring logs.
  • Assists with the ordering of study related supplies as well as the maintenance of adequate par levels of the unit’s general floor stock items.
  • Assists with the retention (archiving) of study related documents for 2 years from drug product approval or withdrawal of IND.
  • Assists with the maintenance of a current patient database for healthy and diseased research subjects.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. 
  • At least one (1) year of prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician or a Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
