Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Clinical Research Unit (CRU) within Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). The Staff Nurse will perform clinical research in accordance with professional research and nursing standards for trials conducted within the NJMS Clinical Research Unit. Assists in coordinating research and clinical care. Collects and generates data Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Generates valid, reliable high quality data in accordance with standards of research and nursing practice.
- Participates in protocols sponsored by NIH, industry- sponsored and investigator-initiated.
- Recruits, enrolls, and follows subjects on CRU clinical trials.
- Conducts the informed consent process with potential research subjects in a sensitive and thorough manner. Assures that studies are conducted according to protocol.
- Coordinates patient care, as needed. Screens and enrolls patients as defined in exclusion/inclusion criteria.
- Follows patients throughout study course. Minimizes losses to follow-up.
- Networks with hospital personnel to identify patients appropriate for protocol and follows enrolled subjects in cooperation with clinical personnel. Assists with coordinating research and clinical care through participation in clinic/hospital team care.
- Evaluates patient responses to research protocols and facilitates patient compliance with protocols by maintaining a therapeutic nurse/patient relationship.
- Monitors patient safety on clinical trials.
