Position Overview
A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the Department of Physics at the University of Idaho. The overall goal of the project supporting this position is to develop and apply optical microscopy to complex, multicellular, biological systems. To meet this goal, this position combines our recent interferometric (e.g., Nature Communications ), Airy light-sheet (fluorescence and Raman ), and photon-sparse imaging research.
Unit Overview
The Department of Physics at the University of Idaho offers a friendly environment to participate in cutting-edge research. The laboratory hosting this position has extensive expertise in cell imaging, image analysis, and biophysics using various techniques. The position offers outstanding research opportunities in fundamental optics, microscopy, and biophysics, in collaboration with biologists, optics theorists, and computer scientists.

Key Accountability Research
Job Duties
The scholar will undertake the planning and execution of experiments and data analysis related to this position, namely: microscopy (hardware) development, imaging, and applications.

The scholar will undertake the preparation of manuscripts that are related to this position, attend meetings and, when appropriate, share their research findings, or collaborate with other members of our interdisciplinary team.

Required Experience
  • A solid background in optics, imaging, biological physics, and related publications.
Required Education
  • The applicant must hold or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related discipline.
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
Additional Preferred
  • Experience in adaptive and ultra-fast optics and machine learning, or be eager to master some of these areas. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work independently and within a group are preferred.
