Summary of Position
The post-doc scholar will be responsible for supporting the research team in a variety of research-related tasks, including preparing resources and materials for research activities, collecting data (e.g., surveys, interviews), large database management, and analyzing longitudinal quantitative datasets. The ideal candidate will have experience on federally funded research teams and is interested in pursuing a career in childhood violence prevention and response research. The post-doctoral scholar will receive professional mentoring and author peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants. The candidate will also have opportunities to pursue their own external funding.

The position is grant-funded from January 1, 2022 – to December 31, 2023. The position is full-time and includes benefits following UNH guidelines. The applicant must be local to Seacoast, NH, and able to work in our Durham, NH office Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be finished with their doctoral degree or in the final stages of completing their doctoral degree in psychology, sociology, public health, criminal justice, or a related field. Experience as a researcher is required. Applicants with strong database management skills will be prioritized.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Subject knowledge in violence against children and violence prevention.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; including the ability to speak clearly to different audiences.
  • Significant experience in the analysis of quantitative data and handling of missing data.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately, and to problem solve technical and methodological issues that arise during the course of research.
  • Understand and adhere to standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to criminal justice research and associated human subjects’ research ethics.
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and take them from conception to completion, while communicating and coordinating with the larger research team.
  • Excellent prioritization skills.
  • Ability to complete tasks on time to meet articulated deadlines.
  • Demonstrate high productivity in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Stata.
