Who is Saint Louis University? Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic universities. SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.

All About You

The Postdoctoral Fellow will assist the Principal Investigator. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Saint Louis University and work with a group of nationally recognized, well-funded investigators.

Using a highly translatable short bowel syndrome (SBS) model, our lab is advancing strategies to mitigate serious complications and provide key insights into drivers of injury in SBS and its mitigation with a novel system. We are investigating key pathways along the gut-systemic signaling axis as well as the role of gut microbiota in driving injury mechanisms. Our other projects involve developing an organoid model system to test FXR and TGR5 signaling pathways, evaluating non-invasive biomarkers for liver transplant rejection and several lipidomic, metabolomic and transcriptomic based approaches. We have also developed a novel machine to keep alive livers in the lab and are using this system to interrogate underlying biology of ischemia-reperfusion (IR) and to test therapeutic targets to mitigate IR mediated injury.

Minimum Qualifications:

· PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree
