Position Description |
A post-doctoral position is available as part of an NSF-funded study investigating plant responses to climate change in the Eastern United States. The ideal candidate will be interested in and have skills in synthesizing large amounts of phylogenetic and phylogenomic data with phenological data collected from digitized herbarium specimens through crowd- sourcing (Willis et al. 2017 ) and machine-learning (Davis et al. 2021 ). We aim to characterize large-scale patterns of phenological response (Park et al. 2018 ; Park et al. 2021 ) and to model and forecast the accompanying and associated changes in species distributions (this post-doc). The duration of the position is for one year, with a start date of 1 Feb 2022 (open to negotiation). A two-year extension beyond the additional appointment is possible, depending on performance and availability of funds from a separately funded (but related) project. The annual salary of $52,000 is based on Harvard-specific standards for post-doctoral research salaries. The post-doctoral researcher will be based in the research group of Charles Davis (Harvard University, Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, USA) and will be co-advised by Aaron Ellison (Harvard University, Harvard Forest, USA).

Basic Qualifications |
Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant field (genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, macroecology, evolution, or computational modelling) and have commensurate research experience as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in international journals. A passion for plant science, strong motivation, and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
