POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTPresident/CEOJuly 2022The Board of Trustees of La Salle Catholic College Preparatory of Milwaukie, Oregon has retained Lester Consulting Group,Inc. (LCG) to facilitate a national search for the schools next President. The position is available July 2022.La Salle Prep is one of 21 schools in the Lasallian District of San Francisco New Orleans and part of a worldwide network ofschools rooted in the charism of the De La Salle Christian Brothers. The Brothers are exclusively a teaching order andsponsor the largest network of K-12 Catholic schools in the nation.La Salle Prep opened in 1966 as the first coed private high school in the Portland metropolitan area.

It now boasts a 55-yearlegacy of a faith-based community of excellent education with an annual enrollment of approximately 620 students. Theschool enjoys an enviable financial position, with no debt and a growing endowment. In 2020 the school completed asuccessful capital campaign leading to a $5.9 million investment in the new Father Saafeld Athletic Center, bringing theschool closer to the completion of a Campus Master Plan.Inspired by their Lasallian mission, the leadership of the school actively seeks out prospective students on the marginsenriching the student body with diversity found in socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as cultural and racial diversity. Over62% of the student body receives financial aid, including 10% from households that meet a federal poverty standard.The candidate must be a practicing Catholic who will model a commitment to that faith both personally and professionally.Supported by a strong and experienced administrative team, the next President will be a visionary and energetic leader, whoembraces the Lasallian mission of this Catholic community.

The successful candidates past professional responsibilities willdemonstrate innovative and inspirational strategic planning, inspire collaboration from all constituent groups, and displayevidence of strong communication skills.Building on the schools strong foundation, the ideal candidate will be experienced in institutional advancement asdemonstrated by innovative program development and marketing strategies as well as strong business acumen. Competencyin change management and implementation, coupled with an understanding of how diversity, equity, and inclusion contributeto the mission of the school, are paramount in taking La Salle Prep to its next level of excellence.A qualified candidate will have a demonstrated professional leadership progression of 10 years in an academic, nonprofit, orprofessional arena. The selected candidate will be responsible for fostering an atmosphereand professional environment of learning, achievement, cooperation and respect.The new President will be a visionary and energetic leader. The successful candidate will have significantsenior leadership experience, financial acumen and expertise in business management.

Experience in planningand overseeing capital projects to enhance facilities is desirable as well as experience in donor prospecting andfundraising. Paramount to success in this executive position are excellent leadership and communication skillsthat inspire collaboration from all constituent groups. The President should possess an understanding of thePresident-Principal model of leadership and be comfortable working with the Board of Trustees use of thePolicy Governance model. While day-to-day faith formation is the responsibility of the Principal, thePresident provides leadership to ensure that the school and its mission remain faithful to Catholic teachingsand embraces its Lasallian charism in all facets of its operations.

Specifically, this vision is grounded in La Salle Prep s mission,core values and in the Lasallian charism. ThePresident must articulate and help the La Salle Prep communityunderstand and convey the distinctive value of La Salle Prep.STRATEGIC PLANNING: As La Salle Prep begins a new chapter in its rich history, it is anopportune time for the new President to work in strongcollaboration with the Board of Trustees to develop an integratedstrategic plan that clearly articulates a vision for the future ofLa Salle Prep that includes academic excellence, financialsustainability, and a vibrant Lasallian Catholic identity.PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: La Salle Prep seeks an experienced, mission-focused organizational leader with progressive experience in aneducational, nonprofit, and/or another professional setting. Strong candidates will have backgrounds that includemost or all of the following: ? The ability to see relevant trends and opportunities, develop a compelling vision, inspire others to embracethat vision, and implement executive leadership skills to strategically realize the vision.?

A current understanding of directions and issues in the Catholic Church, including pastoral, social, and moraldimensions of church life and the role of Catholic institutions within the Church.? A passion for secondary education and an understanding of current issues and trends that affect schools andadolescents.? Experience in successfully leading people through significant organizational change.? Experience responding to an organizational crisis or managing persistent pressure with confidence, dignity,and compassion.?

Experience in major gift fundraising and/or capital campaign and an understanding of effective fundraisingprograms. She/He must be comfortable asking for financial support and must have a commitment todeveloping a culture of philanthropy with donors and other strategic partners.? A willingness and commitment to be visible and to make connections with the greater Portland community inorder to enhance the schools image and reputation.? Experience in enrollment management and/or marketing.

The President will inspire enrollment byarticulating how La Salle Prep nurtures, loves, and educates all students. The President will possess apersonality that enables her/him to genuinely connect with prospective families and feeder schoolrepresentatives who reflect the diverse populations that make La Salle Prep a vibrant school community.? Experience in building and leading teams. The President will be a naturally collaborative servant leader whounderstands there are times for clear standards of accountability and decisive leadership.

She/He will embracethe opportunity to mentor and develop future leaders within the ranks of La Salle Preps faculty and staff.? A demonstrated commitment to the Lasallian Core Principal of Concern for the Poor, and Social Justicewhich includes actively working to ensure financial aid is available to families of limited economic means.? The ability to embrace Policy Governance and work effectively with the Board of Trustees to position theschool for long-term sustainability.? Strong business management skills, including experience in HR, budgeting, finance, facilities management,employment law, and marketing/PR.?
