2075-CHICANO STUDIES RESEARCH CENTER

As an Organized Research Unit (ORU), the Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC) will expand its campus leadership role as UCLA becomes a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), executing the Chancellor's HSI Infrastructure investments in faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and research. Additionally, as part of the Institute for American Cultures (IAC), CSRC will take a leadership role in supporting the development and implementation of an Ethnic Studies Curriculum for the general public, with a particular focus on Ethnic Studies curricula for secondary school students in the State of California. In years to come, CSRC may pursue additional funded efforts that evolve from the HSI Infrastructure and Ethnic Studies Initiatives.
Under the general direction of CSRC Director, the Senior Administrator of Campus Initiatives will be responsible for planning and directing complex projects; the creation and implementation of hiring and recruitment processes; programming; coordination; and development related to CSRC's leadership in HSI Infrastructure and Secondary School Ethnic Studies. The Senior Administrator will develop and execute CSRC short- and long-term goals and objectives to ensure CSRC effectively executes the Chancellor's HSI Infrastructure investments, as well as pursues and implements new opportunities to support faculty, postdoctoral scholars, students, and staff as UCLA achieves HSI status. The Senior Administrator will also help coordinate various UCLA and community stakeholders in developing Secondary School Ethnic Studies. The Senior Administrator is expected to provide advice to the CSRC Director, and serve as liaison with IAC Vice Provost, affiliated faculty, postdoctoral scholars, librarians, students, campus administrators, CSRC Faculty Advisory Committee, and other stakeholders on a variety of issues.
Duties include: developing and implementing strategies related to CSRC's research, library, and press that support the goals of the HSI Infrastructure, Ethnic Studies, and other funded efforts that evolve from these initiatives; working with university and community stakeholders supporting UCLA's preparation for achievement of HSI status; leading sustained and successful capacity-building strategies that take into consideration the various needs of the Latinx community across campus; coordinating on and off campus stakeholders in development of secondary school Ethnic Studies curriculum and teacher training; writing and editing organizational communications; providing oversight for budget and financial reporting obligations connected to HSI Infrastructure, Ethnic Studies, and subsequent related initiatives; representing CSRC in key venues on campus and in community meetings pertaining to HSI Infrastructure, Ethnic Studies, and subsequent related initiatives; overseeing the creation of strategic plans, budgets, and financial reports for key stakeholders pertaining to HSI Infrastructure, Ethnic Studies, and subsequent related initiatives; facilitating faculty recruitment and hiring processes; overseeing hiring and training opportunities for postdoctoral scholars; coordinating HSI Infrastructure Initiative research grant awards; supervising staff and research assistants; and working with university and community partners to implement HSI Infrastructure, Ethnic Studies, and other efforts that evolve from these multi-unit initiatives. The Senior Administrator is also required to serve as the director's representative as needed in a wide variety of settings both on and off campus to develop external partnerships, facilitate collaborative opportunities, and increase the positive impact of the CSRC with UCLA becoming an HSI and adoption of Ethnic Studies curriculum.
