Position Summary
Victoria College's Division of Allied Health is hiring for a full-time Nursing Simulation and Laboratory Specialist. This position is a specialized instructional support position responsible for ensuring nursing simulation lab students’ success in the Victoria College nursing programs. This includes simulation instruction, student remediation, performance evaluation and tutoring. This position also assists with setting up and maintaining the simulation laboratory and with simulation and skills learning activities.
This position also includes a $5,000 per year market scarcity.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Simulation scenario development and execution
  2. Integration of simulation scenarios into course curriculum in collaboration with the faculty program coordinators
  3. Assist the lab coordinator with scheduling of simulation and laboratory experiences for students
  4. Maintain simulation manikins and associated supplies, equipment, and consumables
  5. Maintain accurate and complete student records
  6. Provide skill remediation to ADN and VN students as needed
  7. Teach and assist ADN and VN students with nursing skills
  8. Ensure all nursing students have access to appropriate tutoring acitivities
  9. Collaborate effectively with the nursing laboratory coordinator, nursing faculty, and student worker
  10. Implementation of student learning activities
  11. Assist in the recruitment and retention of students
  12. Establish a positive working relationship with all college departments/divisions
  13. Travel to offsite campuses to assist with student support and simulation training or maintenance
  14. Supervises the work of the Nursing Simulation Laboratory student workers and coordinates their schedules
  15. Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Current Texas Registered Nursing License with a Master of Science degree in Nursing required or current enrollment in a graduate nursing program with at least 50% of all course work completed upon hire
  • Three years nursing experience required
  • Extensive computer experience required in order to be comfortable with learning the specific educational software that is used in the simulation lab
  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Computer simulation preferred
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand, walk, push and pull. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 -50 pounds while loading laboratory supplies and equipment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
