Job Description
 

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri has a postdoctoral position available immediately for a duration of one year.

Building collapse is a complex structural event influenced by complexities with loading (sudden impact loading to sustained long-term loading), material degradation, and uncertainties in a building's as-built condition and material properties. The postdoctoral researcher will study progressive collapse in reinforced concrete buildings including what leads to the collapse and how the collapse dynamically progresses. The researcher will conduct reviews and analysis based on previously tested specimens for journal publications and preliminary analysis for new proposals.


Qualifications
 

The qualified candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in civil and environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field by the time the appointment begins.  Experience in finite element modeling with a background in modeling of reinforced concrete and structural reliability is a plus.  Excellent technical writing skills is also a plus.
