Job Description

Supervisor of Maintenance (Vernon):

Duties and Responsibilities: The Supervisor of Maintenance is responsible to the Director of Physical Plant. This is a security-sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215)

Specific duties include:

1. To maintain good relations with subordinates, other college employees, and students.

2. To supervise the maintenance of all college-owned buildings and equipment.

3. To maintain necessary building and equipment records.

4. To supervise maintenance personnel.

5. To assist in administering the financial budgets for the Maintenance Department.

6. To instruct others in the use of tools and equipment.

7. To periodically inspect all equipment and buildings.

8. To maintain a preventive and routine maintenance schedule.

9. To be responsible for providing weekend and special event coverage relative to Maintenance needs.

10. To be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

11. To assist in the formulation and administration of the financial budget for the maintenance department.

12. To be responsible for ordering supplies and parts used in the maintenance department with the approval of the physical plant director.

13. To perform duties as a maintenance employee.

14. To coordinate and maintain campus wide HVAC. a. Maintains extensive knowledge of software programs related to HVAC. b. Schedules all a/c and heating systems. c. Maintains all mechanical/physical areas of HVAC.

15. To maintain and service the college’s fleet of vehicles.

16. To assume special responsibilities on assignment by the Director of Physical Plant, Vice-President of Administrative Services or the President

Travel Required: Minimal travel between CCC and STC

Experience and Training: Two to five years experience in general maintenance. Verifiable experience conducting preventative maintenance of HVAC and other equipment. Supervisory experience is a plus.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: General carpentry and painting. Maintaining equipment, handling equipment & working with little supervision. Ability to facilitate a good work environment for others and lead a successful team.

Preferred Qualifications: Two to five years maintenance experience, including HVAC and plumbing. 

Minimum Educational Qualifications:  High School Diploma or GED

Salary or Salary Range: This is a full time 12 month position with full time benefits. The salary for this position is based on 310 points on the Administrative Salary Schedule. The salary is $38,201-$41,153 based on experience. Applications will be accepted until 3/16/2025. This position is available on April 1, 2025.
