Manager, Career Services and Specialized Student Support
Tallahassee State College is excited to announce a full-time opening for the position of Manager, Career Services and Specialized Student Support – P01201 in with the Advising & Retention. We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community.
What You’ll Do
The Manager of Career Services and Specialized Student Supports position will manage and facilitate operations under the Dean of Career and Academic Planning arm of Student Affairs to include Career Services, International Student Services, the Testing Center, and the Veterans Student Success Center. This position will directly supervise staff and ensure compliance and advancement of the goals established for each of these areas.

This position will directly supervise staff and ensure compliance and advancement of the goals established for each of these areas.
Day-to-day responsibilities:

Provides leadership and oversight for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive Career Services program. Supervises Career Services Coordinator. Works with Director of Academic Advising to offer career development training and labor market information for advisers to use in advising students about career and academic pathways. Provides Career Services Employer Relations programs that will include hosting. recruitment, information sessions, and job/career fairs for employers. Manages the Employer Partners program for opportunities for TCC students and experiential learning through FutureLink.

Works in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Workforce Development on employer relationships and opportunities for experiential learning for students in career and technical education programs. Develops, in collaboration with those areas, programming and supports aligned to prepare TCC students with work-readiness skills. Serve on Advisory Councils and other standing committees.

Provides effective leadership for the operation and advancement of International Student Services, Testing Center and Veteran Success Center. Works collaboratively with the Dean to prepare and maintain assigned budgets for these centers. Assists with the administration of all assigned programs in accordance with administrative policies and procedures. Stays current on national trends for international students, student veterans, student advising, career development strategies and collaborates on effective processes of academic and career pathways for students in their first year.

Assists in assessments of services, developing student learning outcomes, program outcomes and analytical reports. Utilizes student success data and student development research to inform decisions and assess outcomes for continuous improvement.

Bachelor’s degree in Career Counseling, Education, Human Resources or related field and (2) two years of experience in higher education of which (1) one year must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Preference given to applicants who have direct experience in career counseling, career planning or related field.

A master’s degree in career counseling, education, student development/personnel or related field may substitute for one year of the required experience but may not replace the required supervisory experience.

Experience working at a community college and/or understanding the community college’s commitment to access and student success (preferred).
