All About You

Job Duties

  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms; prepares patients for physician’s visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs; assists with exams, tests, and special procedures as directed; may be required to draw blood, collect urine, provide wound care and give immunizations and medications under the direction of provider.
  • Checks patients’ medical records for pertinent data; reviews and maintains current patient information/demographic data, social history, medication record, and pertinent medical history from the patient questionnaire while interviewing the patient in appropriate sections of the record only for the medical assistant’s level of access.
  • Prepares and organizes module; inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition; maintains sample medication closet; stocks and maintains rooms and nurses’ stations with adequate supplies.
  • Schedule appointments and tests; enters orders in the electronic health record according to orders from and at the direction of provider; pre-certifies patients for insurance coverage for in clinic procedures; sets up referral contacts; reviews all requisitions (labs and x-rays) for completeness.
  • Requests previous medical records and information from appropriate sources; completes requests for confidential transfer of medical records and information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Trained in Medication Administration

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Medical Assistant  I - graduate from an accredited MA program OR at least one year of applicable patient care experience

  • Medical Assistant  II - graduate from an accredited MA program preferred AND/OR at least 1 year of experience working as a MA

  • Medical Assistant  III - graduate from an accredited MA program and 3 years of experience with certification/registration OR 5 years of MA experience (certification/registration and diploma waived)
