The Undergraduate Enrollment Division works to open doors to a Notre Dame education, empowering students to pursue, discover, and share knowledge, truth, and faith as a powerful means for good. The division is committed to creating socioeconomic mobility for students from all pathways, increasing the global Catholic community on its campus, and ensuring that the Notre Dame undergraduate student body represents the diversity of gifts and experiences of the full human family.
Reporting to the Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment and serving as a member of the Enrollment Senior Leadership Team, this position will implement a comprehensive, data-driven, enrollment strategy to advance the University’s enrollment priorities. The Executive Director will serve as a critical people leader, inspiring the Enrollment team to unify around a shared mission. The position will lead the division’s strategic planning process, data analytics and reporting team, deepen partnerships to advance access to a Notre Dame education, lead the pre-college programs, marketing and communication, events, and other strategic initiatives as deemed appropriate by the Enrollment team. The position will leverage cutting-edge technology, inspire a data-driven environment, and implement innovative practices that support a sophisticated enrollment enterprise. The Executive Director will serve as the Enrollment team’s primary liaison to campus partners, including the Provost Office, IRIS, Student Affairs, Undergraduate Education, Notre Dame Global, University Relations, and OPAC.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Strategic planning leadership: Responsible for the implementation and execution of the Enrollment division’s strategic plan and serves as the primary liaison to IRIS, the Provost Office, Student Affairs, Undergraduate Education, Notre Dame Global, University Relations, and OPAC in advancing the University’s strategic framework on enrollment related matters.
- Data analytics and reporting: Responsible for developing and managing a best-in-class data, analytics, and reporting environment to inform enrollment strategies, operations, and processes. Analytics and reporting are essential to cultivating a robust, academically prepared, mission oriented, and diverse applicant pool, ultimately helping Notre Dame advance her priorities of affordability and access. The position will be responsible for developing enrollment models and reports to advance enrollment strategies from suspect to applicant; applicant to admit; and admit to confirm.
- Strategic outreach and recruitment/access partnerships: The position will be responsible for managing the University’s Strategic Partners Program, which invests in purposeful relationships with high schools, community-based organizations, and college-access organizations that work with prospective college students and families. The Sr. Program Director of Strategic Partnerships will report to the Executive Director and together they will prioritize partners investing in college preparation and readiness at a scalable level and consistent with Notre Dame’s mission. Examples of such partnerships may include but are not limited to the Cristo Rey Network, ACE schools, Catholic diocesan schools, Congregation of Holy Cross schools, Matriculate, Nicholas Academic Center, etc. Moreover, the position will lead a team dedicated to developing and leading a program that invests in trusting and purposeful relationships with partners via outreach and personal visits, college readiness partnership programming (e.g., high school course selection workshops), comprehensive engagement models including pre-college, financial aid, and yield resources, counselor fly-in programs, etc. Moreover, the program will include regular engagement of current Notre Dame students matriculating from the strategic partners. This event-based engagement will invest in fellowship, community, professional development, mentorship, and an ambassador program.
- Primary liaison to campus partners in the stewardship of Pathways to Notre Dame: In September 2024, the University emphasized its commitment to the affordability of a Notre Dame education. The Executive Director will lead a team to partner with the Office of Financial Aid, Office of Development, Finance Division, etc. to ensure that controls are in place to ensure that scholarships are awarded consistent with gift documentation and maximized based on available endowment spend and that the University is operating a best-in-class stewardship program for financial aid.
- Leadership of pre-college programs: The position will oversee the University’s Pre-College Programs, including Leadership Seminar, Summer Scholars, Pre-College Global, and Pre-College Online as well as the TRIO Program at Notre Dame. The Pre-College Programs are instrumental to Notre Dame’s enrollment strategies, as they invite young people to experience Notre Dame firsthand, developing skills needed for higher education, building connections with Notre Dame faculty, staff, and peers, increasing confidence of high school students to pursue a post-secondary education, and ultimately increasing affinity for Our Lady’s University. Moreover, TRIO programs invest in South Bend community youth to help prepare, inspire, and empower high school students to pursue their college dreams.
- Enrollment marketing, communication, and storytelling: The position is responsible for strategic and creative marketing, communications and storytelling to advance the University’s enrollment priorities. This position provides leadership to all aspects of enrollment communications, including pipeline development, pre-college, yield, financial aid, etc. The Executive Director is expected to serve as a creative, analytical, metrics-based leader of digital and print marketing channels. The position is expected to interpret market research, prospective student data, campaign analytics, and must drive compelling narratives to advance Notre Dame’s mission with prospective students and families.
- Enrollment events and experiences: The position will lead strategic events and experiences to enhance the recruitment and yield of Notre Dame students. These experiences (e.g., The Rally, Midwest Visit Day, virtual admitted student events, etc.) will celebrate Notre Dame’s distinct Catholic character and unsurpassed undergraduate experience, inspiring prospective students and families.
- Other strategic initiatives: The position will lead a variety of short-term and long-term initiatives that help advance strategic enrollment priorities. Examples include but are not limited to leading new affordability communications strategies, redesigning the division’s CRM (Slate), etc.
The Executive Director is expected to be an exceptional people leader and relationship builder. The leader must always lead with the University’s mission as the highest priority. The leader must have strong relationship building, analytical skills, and an aptitude for enhancing systems and processes to shape strategic direction. Moreover, the position should have experience in cultivating awareness of institutional distinctiveness and strategic thinking about how to leverage institutional scholarship and aid funds to achieve enrollment goals.
The Executive Director is expected to have excellent University perspective, relationship and engagement skills, writing skills, a hunger for creativity and ideation, financial acumen, and project management skills.
