Job Summary

Primarily provide technical support for computer systems, network infrastructure, data/network security, and associated peripherals. Maintain and monitor the distance learning classrooms and general-purpose lab. Responsible for providing an authorized testing facility at WRTTC located in Fort Stockton, TX and maintaining certification through appropriate testing vendors. Student assistance will be based on an instructional plan designed/provided by instruction. Participate in scheduled (monthly) Information Technology training at Midland College main campus in Midland, TX

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Minimum of six months of experience

Associate’s degree or equivalent (60 college credit hours) and six months of directly related work experience; or Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related degree 
 
Knowledge of computer systems, Active Directory, Current Security appliances and technology, Network Infrastructure, and associated peripherals 
 
Knowledge of Windows operating systems (PC and Server), Microsoft Office, computer network technology (Cisco, Meraki, etc.), software installation, and well-developed troubleshooting skills 
 
Ability to learn Midland College’s learning management system (Canvas), MC Portal and 
Certify (when needed) for proctoring/monitoring standardized testing (Local/State/Federal). 
 
Ability to perform entry-level maintenance on computers and VOIP telephones 
 
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and punctual/moral work ethic 
 
Must maintain a positive work environment, friendly attitude, be dependable, and 
comply with all safety requirements 
 
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related degree 

Experience with Pearson Vue Testing protocol and software 
 
Experience with Accuplacer protocol and software 
 
IT Industry certifications (COMPTIA) and other IT related credentials 
 
Prior work experience in network and computer maintenance 
 
Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Outlook Email

Essential Functions

Configure, install and test all new computers, peripherals, and network electronics, including security and monitoring appliances. 
Maintenance of equipment (PC’s, monitors, scanners, printers, etc.) as needed 
 
Deploy and maintain network equipment. 
 
Provide user training as appropriate. 
 
Install and test current/new software, operating system, additional hardware, and security camera configuration within guidelines developed with the IT division. 
 
Maintain annual inventory records of all IT-related equipment. 
 
Assist instructors with computer equipment and provide support to all users. 
 
Maintain/operate all IT-related equipment on campus. 
 
Maintain distance learning technology equipment and stay current on supporting the existing equipment. 
 
Maintain published testing schedule and administer scheduled tests in the manner 
mandated by testing protocol. 
 
Aid dual credit students by following instructional directions. 
 
Employee will be expected to remain current in the state of the field, including the pursuit of desirable industry certifications. 
 
Perform other duties as required/assigned

Physical Demands

Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds 
 
Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder up to 20 feet to install equipment or cables. 
 
The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information and maintain a professional demeanor. 
 
Use of manual dexterity in operating and working on computer equipment, network devices, and cabling infrastructure. 
 
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. 
 
Duties may require working evenings and weekends. 
 
Duties will include working on equipment in locations including confined spaces, under desk, above ceilings, and small areas.
