Job Description
 

The Wan Lab at the Bond Life Sciences Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the area of Viral Immunology at the Influenza Systems Biology Laboratory, which is affiliated with the Department of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology / School of Medicine, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science / College of Engineering, Department of Veterinary Pathobiology / College of Veterinary Medicine, and MU Institute for Data Science and Informatics at the University of Missouri (MU).
 
The lab focuses on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses, by developing and applying integrated, multi-scale, and evidence-based approaches by combining laboratory, clinical and computational methods. The lab has accesses to the regional BSL3 and ABSL-3 biocontainment laboratory at the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases Laboratory.

Perform Influenza Virology and Systems Biology Research

The responsibilities of the position are to study the impacts of pre-existing immunity derived from repeated vaccination and/or infection(s) on vaccine effectiveness, particularly in understanding how T-cell mediates B-cell responses, and to study pathogenesis and immunological responses for influenza and/or SARS-CoV-2 viruses using systems biology approaches. This person will be expected to perform experiments, data analysis and manuscript preparation. This person will also be responsible for recording all methods, results, and other relevant information in an organized manner as instructed by the Principal Investigator. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and able to integrate well within a diverse team.

 


Qualifications
 

This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Immunology or related degree by the time of the appointment. Previous experience in influenza virus or Virology is preferred.
