This is a full-time position located on our Emmetsburg Campus. Primary responsibility is to provide college preparation coaching and information about Iowa Lakes Community College to prospective students and for recruitment purposes. Responsible for converting prospective students from point of inquiry through registration, to a motivated and confident new Iowa Lakes student. Travel extensively and represent Iowa Lakes Community College across the state of Iowa and surrounding states.

Constant (67-100%)

  • Recruitment responsibilities include contacting high schools in assigned territories while maintaining a record and documenting all contacts and follow-up conversations.
  • Attend assigned college day/night fairs throughout the school year.
  • Assist in hosting visitors to campus by responding to questions, giving college tours, and providing college information.
  • Recruit, select, and train student ambassadors.
  • Travel extensively in assigned area with overnight travel.
  • Communicate with administration, faculty, and other staff about recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain an understanding of all academic programs at Iowa Lakes Community College.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students and help them navigate through the enrollment process while maintaining a high level of customer service throughout all interactions.

Frequent (34-66%)

  • Coordinate/Assist with Laker Visit Days, summer Orientation Days, College Fairs, Career Day, First Day Activities/College 101, and county fairs for recruiting new students.
  • Implement e-recruiting and CRM recruitment efforts.
  • Assist students with program advisement and admissions questions
  • Attend and participate in monthly student services and all-campus meetings.

Occasional (10-33%)

  • Serve on assigned and voluntary committees.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Knowledge of general admissions processes and procedures practiced by post-secondary educational institutions.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise good judgment when making decisions.
  • Self-starter and have the ability to function under limited supervision.
  • Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.
  • Must be enthusiastic and energetic in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of e-recruitment and social networking technologies.
  • Ability to efficiently perform tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.
  • Must have the ability to organize, multi-task, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer for word processing, database information, and the mainframe.
  • Thorough knowledge of office procedures, telephone techniques and office equipment, as well as correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions or communications.
  • Utilize consultative sales processes and coaching methods to recruit prospective students.
  • Technology skills to document/record all interactions with prospective students within the CRM system.


Light to medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying frequently (34-66%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). Must have valid driver’s license. Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle.

Bachelor’s Degree required. Must possess excellent people skills and a thorough understanding of Iowa Lakes Community College. An understanding of the important role we play in the state educational system is expected. Excellent computer and sales skills and a willingness to travel extensively are essential.

Salary: $41,953
