The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a non-profit, volunteer service organization with offices scattered around the globe at major Navy and Marine Corps installations. NMCRS was founded in 1904 at the urging of President Theodore Roosevelt to provide financial assistance to the widows and orphans of Sailors or Marines who died on active duty. Our mission has evolved and expanded over the past 117 years to include providing financial, educational and other need-based assistance to active duty and retired Sailors and Marines, and their eligible family members and their survivors.
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Headquarters is seeking an Education Assistance Program Manager. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer, the Education Assistance Program Manager is responsible for administering the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s various education assistance programs. This is a part-time position with the potential to increase to full time.
Duties, Responsibilities and Major Tasks
Provides professional assistance to the Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer in establishing procedures for administrating various student loan and grant programs, including development of forms and form letters, processing systems and procedures for the programs.
Develops and implements the annual application and selection processes including program design, advertising, recruitment, eligibility review, and customer service with students and families.
Develops all material needed for administering the education assistance program.
Processes applications and managing awards efficiently and accurately in an online scholarship system.
Prepares reports relevant to education assistance programs.
Responsible for development and execution of the annual education assistance program business plan; coordinates with Financial Services for auditability and accurate execution.
Assists with updating policies, procedures, website, social media and marketing materials.
Compiles and reports metrics to assess the Society’s performance in awarding scholarships.
Maintains strict confidentiality of all activities
Supports and affirms a culture of distinctive excellence and exceptional service.
Attends college fairs and other educational related conferences
Performs all other position-related duties as assigned and adhere to all NMCRS policies and procedures.
Education ( Required)
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited academic institution
2. Training in Microsoft Office computer software programs particularly MS Excel and/or education scholarship database
1. Experience in scholarship administrations within a private or public environment
2. Three or more years’ experience working in client/customer service and support activities.
3. Ability to be self-directed and work autonomously and maintain a high degree of organization
4. Project management experience
5. Relationship building and facilitation skills
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills
7. Proven track record of providing excellent customer service
8. Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds
9. Exceptional presentation and public speaking ability.
