Assume responsibility for identifying and selecting participants from the necessary Upward Bound schools; assess student’s needs; provide personal, academic and career services to participants. Presenting and planning curriculum for 9-12 grades.

Hours per Week: 37.5 hours

Work Days per Week: Monday through Friday

Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Duties:
  • Facilitates meeting the requirements set forth by the U. S. Department of Education grant.
  • Assists in the recruitment efforts for Upward Bound/monitoring recruitment numbers to ensure participant requirements are met.
  • Maintains secure files for students/participants in the program.
  • Work effectively with school and community organizations personnel to identify, recruit, select and help meet educational needs of students.
  • Meet Monthly/Individually with Upward Bound participants at their schools to discuss academic progress, and other concerns.
  • Obtain semester grades for participants from school personnel.
  • Participate in a development of a creative curriculum and activity development that enhances career awareness, financial literacy, and educational success.
  • Plan and coordinate special educational activities, such as college tours, ACT preparation workshops, and return trip workshops.
  • Participate in the hiring and training of all new staff.
  • Assist in updating website and newsletters
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Document student progress and services provided to project participants. (Blumen)
  • Monitor completion of activities in the non-academic portion of the ISP.
  • Assist the Project Director in coordinating evaluations, preparing reports, and other reports required by Multiculturalism and Inclusion and the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Participate in conferences and workshops to enhance professional development.
  • Assist/participate in the planning and development of 6-week Summer Programming for Upward Bound
  • Other duties as assigned by the project director.
Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Experiment Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (Counseling, Education, Student Personnel Services, Higher Education, Social Work, or related field) and one year of related experience, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Able to build rapport with students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Able to work creatively and effectively within a team environment.
  • Familiar with using MS office applications, Google drive, including other databases.
  • Familiar with using social media, Facebook, twitter.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Professional Attire when attending workshops, conferences, and meetings.
