Position Highlights Arizona Institutes for Resilience (AIR) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance, Postdoctoral Research Associate in the recently established & cross-cutting postdoctoral cluster hire “Bridging Biodiversity & Conservation Science (BBCS): Forecasting Future Environments” initiated in 2016.  The position connects to an exciting scientific interface addressing “global grand challenges” in biodiversity & conservation science & its role in sustaining societal well-being. The BBCS initiative provides an opportunity for interdisciplinary training, with access to excellent core facilities, & engaging in a team approach with other post-doctoral fellows.  Current BBCS affiliated projects include understanding the impact of Amazon fires on biodiversity, the role of extreme heat on livestock health & food security, impact of city-scaling on ecosystem services, & human-environmental interactions & the emergence of vector-borne diseases.  The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work under the supervision of a Research Director & an interdisciplinary group of the BBCS Core Faculty.
The Arizona Institutes for Resilience coordinates interdisciplinary groups of faculty, students & projects across the UArizona campus. The scientific goal of the BBCS program is to build a more robust & predictive biodiversity & conservation science through integration with epidemiology, informatics, & public policy. We will address emerging, critical issues in preventing extinction, preserving ecosystem & human health, & food security. By forecasting future environments & patterns of biodiversity under changing physical, social, & economic conditions, we not only will be able to anticipate future challenges & opportunities in health & food security, but also aim to develop governance & conservation strategies to address these challenges.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
