Posting Summary
Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Assistant Dean . Reporting to the Director of the EMBA Program, the Assistant Dean of EMBA is responsible for the planning, administration, recruitment/enrollment, student services and alumni relations for all aspects of the Executive MBA program.

The Assistant Dean is responsible for representing the Rutgers Business School and the Executive Masters of Business Administration Program (herein EMBA) knowledgeably and professionally.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the EMBA program.
  • Accurately complies survey information and delivering it in a timely fashion to the Financial Times ranking survey. The publication of survey results directly impacts the reputation, recruitment ad revenue of the EMBA program and the University;
  • Works with current students – various requests on a daily and weekly basis – most issues this position would make the final decision and for other issues they might make a recommendation to the director;
  • Recommends prospective applicants to program Director for final decision if file is complete for admissions review;
  • Determines the scope and procedures for timely and accurate completion of assignments as assigned by the RBS Dean;
  • Identifies and coordinates requirements to secure the most accurate data for completion of reports and special projects;
  • Addresses problems that can disrupt the flow of the areas of responsibility;
  • Tracks Administrative/Budgetary issues such as revenue;
  • Manages recruitment issues including scheduling of open houses, tracking applications and enrollments, monitoring yields and initiating corrective action as required to meet enrollment goals;
  • Addresses student issues including evaluating courses and electives, certification of graduates, curriculum options plus complex student problems.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, public administration, management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of management and administrative principles and practices;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in an administrative function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires a master’s degree;
  • Five years of experience in higher education administration or equivalent experience;
  • Must be highly organized, have the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, set priorities, and work independently as well as be a strong and collaborative team player;
  • Excellent oral, written, communication and research skills, superior attention to detail, and strong computer literacy;
  • Knowledgeable of higher education policies including privacy of student education records (FERPA), operations management and communications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating and managing data sets.
